Style: soft cup bra update part 2

Not to be overly dramatic, but going wire free has been a complete game changer for me.  I think during the first week I played it pretty safe with my outfit choices, mainly to suss out how practical the bras would be and how much coverage they would offer (I didn’t want to risk a nip slip in the middle of the office!)  After being incredible pleased with the results, I thought I’d push the boat out a little bit and put a smidge more effort into my weeks outfits.

I did have to reign myself in a couple of times though and remember (as my mum used to say) I’m going to work not a fashion show.

Day 1 – The beginning of the week was so hot, especially in an office where the closest thing to air con is a weak little fan in the corner of the room.  I was so happy with how the straps on this bra matched up perfectly with my top – I had it drilled into me when I was a teenager that bra straps should never be seen.  I think this is the first time in years that I’ve found two pieces that fit so well together.  I’m also loving these new metallic mules from New Look, I couldn’t decide if they were a bit old lady but now I think I love them.

Day 2 – This little top is so comfy and cool but a nightmare for a normal bra.  That’s where a lovely little racer back soft cup comes in.  I bought this bra ages ago but never really gave it a proper chance, the high racer back makes it feel like the worst fitting bra in the world – you know when the under band rides way up.  It fit pretty perfectly with the shape of this top, just showing a little flash of netting at the sides every now and again.  I’m not gonna lie, I didn’t mind a cheeky flash.

Day 3 – This is another bra/top combo that fit perfectly together.  I did feel a little bit weird wearing a top that I have only ever worn going out out in the daytime, but I figured it’s only a top and it doesn’t flash anything inappropriate so where’s the harm?  I’ve always been kind of split between wanting separate work and not work wardrobes, and mixing everything up wearing whatever, wherever.  I’m still not completely sure about mixing, but I suppose as long as I’m not turning up to work wearing mini dresses I’m sure it’ll be fine.

Day 4  – I love this little eBay bargain top, it’s a weird knitted metallic mix that’s (you guessed it) pretty comfy.  It’s not that spacious in the chest area though so I doubt it would work with any kind of padded bra.  I probably could have gone a bit more smart than casual with this outfit (I’ve already got the trousers in mind for next time) but I felt pretty good wearing this combination so that’s good enough for me.

Day 5 – This day was probably the coolest of the week so I thought I could get away with a full sleeve.  I went for a lacey crop top under this, very daring wearing black under cream.  It’s so stupid but I felt a bit self conscious at first having dark underwear under a light top.  I managed to get a grip of myself, get over it and accept the comfort I was in.  It’s not like it’s a sexy bra and a fully sheer top, surely that makes it acceptable?  These shoes on the other hand nearly killed me.  My walk to work takes 5-10 mins, that’s all it took for these to give me the biggest blister.  Silver lining – it stopped me going out at lunch for a fatty lunch.

Day 6 – This was my ‘brunch with the ladies’ outfit.  I think I was so excited about having a catch up with my lovely gang that I was probably a bit over dressed and overly made up, but then again I felt pretty good about myself so that’s all that matters, right?  I took this opportunity to flash more than I could on a normal day, wearing a soft cup bra with extra straps under a v neck, lace up top.  I’m not sure it worked 100% but I didn’t hate it!

As vein as it might be, I do love the more put together feeling that comes with putting in the effort and taking a bit more time when getting ready in the morning.  Next step is to find something other than bras to obsess over!

Stay tuned!

Much love!

Hannah
