Imitation is the greatest form of flattery, that’s how the saying goes isn’t it? There are so many strong women both in the public eye and in my personal little bubble of a world that inspire me in so many different ways and make me want to be a better person on every level.

I will admit to having a (very obvious) affinity for all things aesthetically pleasing, but my #wcw choices are based on much more than just a pretty face. It might be a bit of a cop out, but for me fashion and makeup are an easily accessible way to get into the mindset of some of these incredible women. I’d also be telling a big whopper of a lie if I didn’t admit to always looking for any excuse to dress a little differently to normal, who doesn’t like playing dress up every now and again?

Introduction complete, here is my first official #wcw. Cara Delevingne. So clearly I have gushed about my admiration for this lady before and it goes without saying she is beautiful and doing pretty well for herself. That isn’t why she was my first choice. A few weeks ago, I came across this post on Instagram and it struck many cords on many levels. Having the courage to speak out against any topic when you don’t agree with it is one thing, to stick with your convictions after seeing a backlash is another thing, and going against your inner doubting self is incredible in my books.

Avoiding confrontation is something I am all too familiar with and often find myself frustrated with my apparent inability to stand up for what I know is right. Maybe it is a British thing, don’t talk about things and there won’t be any problems.

I feel the need to point out, this Instagram post isn’t the only time she has shown an ambition to promote good (in my opinion) causes while always showing a sense of humour and no cares about her sexuality. All traits I admire and strive to emulate in my own way.

This is another reason I wanted to start this little (hopefully) series, to have some kind of analysis into how and why I am filling my social media bubble with these strangers and how their presence in my life can make me a better person, or whether they have no place in my life and I should seriously consider un-following.

Gushing and justification aside, here is my version of the great Cara Delevingne’s style.

There are obviously a lot of different versions of her style – high fashion, very casual and (what caught my eye the most) tailoring. As much as I wanted to recreate the Royal Wedding suit with top hat, this one seemed a little more achievable with what my wardrobe has to offer.

I like it. There’s something about a bit of tailoring with flashing some skin that does make you feel like you can tackle the world. No more being afraid to speak my mind and avoiding any kind of (most kind of) confrontation.

From a more shallow point of view, I think my eyebrows could do with a bit of tlc (not that they will ever have her volume in a million years) but the smokey eye I could definitely get used to.

Who inspires you to be a better person? Let me know your women crushes, whether it’s Wednesday or not.

Plenty more amazing women out there to attempt to emulate.

Stay tuned!

Much love!

Hannah
